Fujairah
To spearhead of its growth, Gulf Petrochem has already commissioned the construction of a Port Storage Terminal facility at Fujairah and has started the initial process in the Indian Sub-continent.
Fujairah is strategically located outside the Strait of Hormuz, 65 miles from the strait and on the open sea of the Arabian Gulf and the Indian Ocean. The region is highly safe in the time of war crisis or threats of war and totally free of piracy risks. Being in the international shipping route, almost 40,000 ships annually pass to and from the gulf. Little wonder that Fujairah is the third largest bunkering centre in the world after Rotterdam and Singapore.
Fujairah Offshore Anchorage Area is characterized by it’s deep water, close to the shore and with smooth sea bed, free of coral reefers or rocks. Thus Gulf Petrochem will have an ideal platform to provide independent storage services for its liquid petroleum products to their customers, in a very professional and safe environment.
Gulf Petrochem plans to build the 600,000 Cbm tanks in 3 phases in tandem with the availability of PoF jetties, as per the schedule below:
Year 2009 – 200,000 Cbm
Year 2010 – 120,000 Cbm
Year 2011 – 300,000 Cbm
This will help in managing the risk of not having the jetties available and the storage becomes available. In order to build in good flexibility to cope with market changes, the second phase of 120,000 Cbm would be built suitable to store K1, K2 and K3 products i.e. tanks with internal floating decks, heating coils and nitrogen web.
